While there are many different planned giving vehicles, bequests and beneficiary designations are popular for their simplicity and ease.

Create an Estate Plan

One way to start your legacy with Solid Ground is to create an estate plan. To help you get started, we’re partnering with FreeWill, a free online tool that guides you through the process of creating your will or trust.

Designate Beneficiaries

Did you know you may have additional assets not covered in your will or trust? If you have an IRA, 401(k), life insurance policy, or any additional accounts, these are called “non-probate assets,” which need to be planned for separately. Using the free online tool below, you can log all of your assets, receive printable instructions on how to set each one up with your broker, and even include Solid Ground as a beneficiary to further support our mission.

2) Sample Bequest Language

Planning for the future and creating the legacy you wish to leave is one of the most meaningful ways to make a lasting impact.

By including a gift in your will or living trust – known as a bequest – you can ensure that your legacy continues to support the values and work you care about most. Your gift can be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after all other provisions have been made.

Sample bequest language you may share with your legal advisor when preparing your estate documents:

For an unrestricted gift that allows Solid Ground to apply it where it’s most needed:

“I give to Solid Ground, a nonprofit organization located at 1501 North 45th Street, Seattle, WA 98103, or its successor organization [insert written amount, % of the estate, or description of property] for its unrestricted charitable use and purpose.”

To designate your gift for a specific purpose:

“I give to Solid Ground, a nonprofit organization located at 1501 North 45th Street, Seattle, WA 98103, or its successor organization [insert written amount, % of the estate, or description of property]. It is my intent that this gift be used to support [insert specific purpose or program] if, and for as long as, Solid Ground determines that the need exists.
